Hi there...my name is Bodhi and my"job" is to take my Mom and Dad on adventures, and share them with all of you. Each month I am going to highlight different places that love having us pups spend time with them. Mostly restaurants, but other places as well. Please remember if you have places that YOU like to visit, contact us and let us know so we can visit them and share what we find with others.
May's Restaurant Choice - The Peach Cafe - 141 E. Colorado Blvd, Monrovia, CA The owner is Nita and she has a beautiful Standard Poodle of her own that loves to visit the restaurant. The entire front patio is Dog friendly and the people that work there are so very nice...and love the pups. Say Hi to Nita, Cathy, Terry, Jen....Oh just say HI to everyone there for me. I love this place and they love me right back!! I forgot to mention...the food is, as my Mom says, "Simply the best".
Here are some great choices for things to do in Cambria, CA ...and a few things on the way!
This is traveling time for us so I wanted to share some of our findings on the road. Mom and Dad took me on a nice trip to the Central Coast of California to the nice little town of Cambria.
Coming from Southern California we stopped in Pismo to stretch our legs. There is a great little park http://www.pismobeach.org/index.aspx?NID=288 with a nice walking path and lots of cool statues of dinos and whales to play on.
Another place to stop if you need a bite to eat is in Duke’sin Ventura. 1124 South Seaward Ave. It’s a cool surfer type of a burger placewith some seating out front for you and your pet. Very casual and really good food. Not lots of room but it’s kinda cool.
Morro Bay has some nice places too. We stopped at Dorn’s (801 Market Ave.) andtheir patio is nice and big and there was plenty of room for me to getcomfy. Mom loves this place and shealways gets the fish and eggs. Lookedyummy to me too but I was happy with my bully stick, laying in the sunshinelaying on the patio next to my Mom and Dad.
Just about to Cambria is a tiny town called Harmony. Not much there, a potter, a glass blower, anda winery. The winery is a great placefor wine tasting and they let me come in and stay close to my mom. They werereally nice and they played with me and gave me lots of love.
Cambria is a very dog friendly town. Lots of restaurants and if they have anyoutside seating at all they welcome your pets.
Here are a few places we found:
Linn’s - greatpastries, tea and coffee…and behind Linn’s is a little place called Easy asPie, yummy deserts and sammiches.
Corner Bakery-good pastries, tea and coffee. Mom says their lemon brioche is WONDERFUL!!
Redwood Café – the owner Rick really liked me a lot. He gave me fresh water and treats and talkedto me. They are open for breakfast andlunch and they have about 10 tables out front. Lots of room
Wild Ginger-Asian food-Oh so good!! Deborah the owner was extra nice to me. She cooks too!! I was cozy laying under the table. Not a lot of room for a BIG boy like me but Iwas good so it was o.k. Try the specials…theyare always yummy!
Cambria Pines-really nice place. A good place to have a special dinner. They have these really neat booths that aretucked away in little coves on their patio. Each one of these little spots has a fireplace and a heater in case it’scold, but I liked the way the cool cement felt on my belly J Dad had prime rib and mom had the vegan stirfry. They both were really happy withtheir food.
Las Cambritas-located on Main Street, they have a BIG backpatio with lots of room for BIG dogs. Dad had what was called “PicNic” (Chili Rellano, Taco and Enchilada),Mom had the vegetarian tacos (one made with avocado and the other withmushrooms). They both liked the foodvery much. It was a little cool on thepatio but they do have heaters.
Robin’s-Robins has a wonderful big patio that is very dogfriendly. Mom was really looking forwardto eating here but when we got there a wedding party had booked the whole patioso we will have to try again next trip. They were real nice, and they wanted us to stay there just wasn’t anyroom that night. The food is great, andthe patio is BIG so good for us BIG dogs.
Indigo Moon and Black Cat Bistro-we didn’t have time to eatat these places but they came highly recommended.
WHERE TO STAY:There are a lot of great places to stay in Cambria. A lot of dog friendly hotels. It really depends on where you want to staybut….we stayed at the Creekside Inn. BIGroom on the second floor with a big king size bed and lots of room for mycrate! We had a balcony so I got to layout there, on the patio, looking out at the creek. I saw a lot of squirrels, deer and a blueheron. It was beautiful and the peopleat the hotel were so nice. They saidgood morning to me every day! Dad tookme to the J & J Heller dog park, which was just a few steps away from ourroom. It was cool there….so many tennisballs to chase, and so little time. Igot really tired but it was so much fun. Sometimes there were other dogs there but most of the time I had thewhole place to myself. Just me, my dadand my mom. It was soooo much fun. And we were waling distance from town whereall of the restaurants were.
THINGS TO DO:
In town there is a doggie spa, Paws and Tails, where you canget a bath or you can go to daycare while your mom and dad have some time forthemselves. Sometimes they need to bealone. We didn’t use them this time butnext time Mom says I can go there and play!!!
One of the neatest pet stores too. It was called Maddie Mae’s Pet Pantry. They have lots of treats, and toys and theyhave two big sheep dogs that hang out in the store. It is really nice!!! I shopped and shopped and I found a bone Ihad to have. I guess I should have askedmom first if it was o.k. but I really wanted it!!!
So much to do in the area.
Lots of beaches to run on. Andsome fun places to ride. The beach in San Simeon is really nice and the waveswere real BIG! We went up to Big Sur and Dad let me play in the river by BigSur River Inn. I had so much fun!!!
